Focus on Alberta

     Alberta is known as a "prairie province" in Canadaspeak. It's fast growing and about the same size as Texas. 3.7 million people lived there in 2009. There are a few more now. Look for Alberta in western Canada and is not a good place to go surfing.
     The capital of Alberta is Edmonton, and is an important commerce center in Canada.
     Alberta contains what they called "boreal" forest, Rocky Mountains, and prairie. Large chunks of the province which are naturally bare of forest have been turned over to grain and dairy farming so that Canadians may have milk with their morning flakes.
     There are also badlands to contend with. Dinosaur Provincial Park, near Brooks, Alberta, showcases the badlands terrain, desert flora, and remnants from Alberta's past when dinosaurs roamed the then lush landscape.
     The climate report for Alberta shows that it sports warm summers and viciously cool winters.
     After morning flakes, Alberta goes on to be the largest producer of crude oil, synthetic crude, natural gas and gas products in the country.
     For the tourist on the hunt for opportunity, besides camping, hunting, and fishing, you have the Calgary Stampede, outdoor festivals, professional athletic events, international sporting competitions such as the Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games, as well as more eclectic attractions. There are also natural attractions like Elk Island National Park, Wood Buffalo National Park, and the Columbia Ice field.
     Then you could visit the Canadian Rockies, Banff National Park and the Jasper National Park. While you are parking, there is also the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks, Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, Wood Buffalo National Park, Dinosaur Provincial Park and Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump.

Focus on British Columbia and Canadian Tourism

     The capital of British Columbia is Victoria and the largest city is the well known Vancouver. Near to 4.5 million folks live thereabouts. Other major cities include Surrey, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Richmond, Delta, and New Westminster in the Lower Mainland; Abbotsford, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge and Langley in the Fraser Valley; Nanaimo on Vancouver Island; and Kelowna and Kamloops in the Interior.
     British Columbia has some interesting variations in climate. Penticton and Oliver in BC have some of hottest temps during the summer, sometimes over 100F, whereas a lot of the western part of Vancouver Island is covered in rain forests, much like those found in fabled Tasmania.
     There are a handful of outdoor opportunities in British Columbia. For example, Yoho National ParkThere are 14 designations of parks and protected areas in the province that reflects the different administration and creation of these areas in a modern context. There are 141 ecological Reserves, 35 provincial marine parks, 7 Provincial Heritage Sites, 6 National Historic Sites, 4 National Parks and 3 National Park Reserves. 12.5% (114,000 km2 (44,000 sq mi)) of British Columbia is currently considered protected under one of the 14 different designations that includes over 800 distinct areas.
     You might also consider, Glacier National Park, Gulf Islands National Park Reserve, Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve and Haida Heritage Site, Kootenay National Park, Mount Revelstoke National Park, Pacific Rim National and Park Reserve.
     There is what they call "biodiversity" in British Columbia which is a funny way saying there are lots of cute animals. Witness: Bears (grizzly, black, and the Kermode bear or spirit bear—only found in British Columbia) live here, as do deer, elk, moose, caribou, big-horn sheep, mountain goats, marmots, beavers, muskrat, coyotes, wolves, mustelids (such as wolverines, badgers and fishers), mountain lions, eagles, ospreys, herons, Canada geese, swans, loons, hawks, owls, ravens, Harlequin Ducks, and many other sorts of ducks. Smaller birds (robins, jays, grosbeaks, chickadees, etc.) also abound.
     Salmon and trout are popular fish, while for the more ambitious, a real hoot can be had trying to land on light fly tackle an Orca, Gray Whale, Harbour Porpoise, Dall's Porpoise, Pacific White-sided Dolphin and Minke Whale.
     Horseback riding is available for land lubbers to get back into the deep woods, and for the sophisticate, golf, soccer, and hockey. There are proliferate lodges, chalets, bed and breakfasts, motels, hotels, fishing camps, and park-camping facilities.

Focus on Manitoba for GREAT Reasons to Visit Canada

     Manitoba's capital and largest city is Winnipeg. It's what they call a "prarie province" which also just happens to have a coastline along the Hudson Bay. The population is a few more than the 1.21 million it was in 2006.
     The highest point in Manitoba is Lake Winnipeg's Baldy Mountain at 2,730 feet.
     Although there is some grain farming, the chief pastime in Manitoba is cattle ranching.
     Generally speaking summers are warm and hot and winters are cold and windy, as befits the plains.
     Fun things to put on one's Manitoba list must include the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

Focus on New Brunswick and Canada Travel Tips

     New Brunswick is a Maritime province which means it has a border on the ocean. It's part English speaking and part French speaking. Although it shares ocean characteristics, for the most part, the climate is continental. The population centers largely follow the river systems including the St. Croix River, Saint John River, Kennebecasis River, Petitcodiac River, Miramichi River, Nepisiguit River, and the Restigouche River.
     Some of the province's tourist attractions include the New Brunswick Museum, Kouchibouguac National Park, Mactaquac Provincial Park, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Kings Landing Historical Settlement, Village Historique Acadien, Les Jardins de la Republique, Parlee Beach, Hopewell Rocks, La Dune de Bouctouche, Saint John Reversing Falls, Magnetic Hill and the Magnetic Hill Zoo, Crystal Palace, Magic Mountain Water Park, Cape Jourimain National Wildlife Preserve, Sugarloaf Provincial Park, Sackville Waterfowl Park, Fundy National Park, and the 41 km (25 mi) Fundy Hiking Trail.

Focus on Newfoundland and Labrador

     Newfoundland and Labrador's capital is St. Johns and forms the easternmost outpost of Canada. The population is a bit more than 510,000, the largest contingent residing on the island of Newfoundland.
     The Island of Newfoundland has its own dialects of the English, French, and Irish languages.
     The climate is what they call polar tundra which means at best, it's cool in the summers.
     Fishing is the big industry on the island. Much of your tasty cod, haddock, and halibut come from the region. Throw in crab, shrimp, and clams, and you're ready for a seafood feast, thanks to Newfoundland!
     Tourism is a big deal. Each year more than a half million folks trek to Newfoundland. When thinking about choosing a Canada Travel Company, you will want to consider getting your information from our travel experts...

Focus on Canada Travel Information and the Northwest Territories

     The fabled Northwest Territories of Canada has a population of something under 50,000 folks, which by comparison wouldn't fill a descent sized football stadium further to the south. The capital is called Yellowknife.
     Geographical features include Great Bear Lake, the largest lake entirely within Canada, Keller Lake and Great Slave Lakes, as well as the Mackenzie River and the canyons of the Nahanni National Park Reserve, a national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Territorial islands in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago include Banks Island, Borden Island, Prince Patrick Island, and parts of Victoria Island and Melville Island. The highest point is Mount Nirvana near the border with Yukon at an elevation of 2,773 metres (9,098 ft).
     The climate of the far northern territory varies from subartic to sure enough arctic. Summers are short and winters are long and viciously cold! Rain is sparse, though, down south, tornadoes are not unheard of. Further north, you'll never have to worry with an umbrella.
     Strangely, because of the low population, and high value resources like gold, oil, and diamonds, the Northwest Territores boasts the highest earners in Canada with the per capita income averaging $100,000 apiece! By this reckoning, it may be possible to go for a vacation in the Northwest Territories and come back home with more money than when you left.

Focus on Nova Scotia, A Great Canada Travel Site

     Nova Scotia is located along the southeast coast of Canada. It's the most highly populated of the Atlantic provinces and the capital is Halifax. The population is just something under a million.
     Industries such as fishing, mining, forestry and agriculture remain very important and have been joined by tourism, technology, film, music, and finance.
     Everywhere in Nova Scotia is close to the ocean. The otherwise harsh climate is moderated by the ocean vapors. Summers are warm and winters are cold as heck, though. On the other hand, Halifax averages 196 foggy days a year.
     Nova Scotia is not protected from Hurricanes and nasty northern storms, but because of the cool water between them and, say, Florida, if and when a large storm arrives, it's a sissy tiger, compared to what it may have been further south.

Focus on Nunavut

     Thinking of traveling to Canada? Even though you  may not have ever heard of Nunavut, it just so happens that it is the largest territory in Canada. It used to be part of the Northwest Territories, but was parceled to itself in 1999.
     Whereas it is understandbly proud of being so large, it loses a little glee for being so darn cold. It's part of what they call the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. The capital is Iqaluit. Other major communities include the regional centres of Rankin Inlet and Cambridge Bay. Nunavut also includes Ellesmere Island to the north, as well as the eastern and southern portions of Victoria Island in the west and Akimiski Island in James Bay to the far south. The population teems at about 30,000, mosty Inuit, spread of an area the size of Western Europe. It's a long way to the nearest Walmart in Nunavut land!
     The highest peak in Nunavut is Barbeau Peak coming in at a choice 8,583 feet on Ellesmere Island.
    All in all, it's a lifestyle that is nearly incomprehensible by the warm weather cousins to the south.

Focus on Ontario

     The capital of Ontario is Toronto, which is Canada's most populous and fancy town. Official estimates put the population of Ontario at over 13.15 million people as of 2009. There are a few more now.
     Ontario is further subdivided into four primary regions....

Travel To Canada

Golden Horseshoe

    * St. Catharines, Ontario
    * Hamilton, Ontario
    * Burlington, Ontario
    * Oakville, Ontario
    * Brampton, Ontario
    * Vaughan, Ontario
    * Richmond Hill, Ontario
    * Markham, Ontario
    * Oshawa, Ontario
    * Barrie, Ontario
    * Mississauga, Ontario

Northern Ontario

    * Greater Sudbury, Ontario
    * Thunder Bay, Ontario

Western Ontario

    * Windsor, Ontario
    * London, Ontario
    * Kitchener, Ontario
    * Chatham, Ontario
  * Guelph, Ontario
    * Brantford, Ontario

Eastern Ontario

    * Kingston, Ontario

     The most well known feature of Ontario is the northern portion of Niagara Falls. The climate runs from warm and humid in the south to sub arctic in the north.
     Whereas agriculture used to be king, nowadays manufacturing is tops and the capital, Toronto is the hub. Also, of prominence is mining forests for pulp for your vital papers.
     But, tourism is a strong comer for it plays also plays a vital role in the region, particularly in the summer. Easily accessible water and wilderness opportunites is the draw.
  • Northern Ontario: It's what they call the "unspoiled civilization." Untrampled forests, lakes and rivers is what you'll have when you do the North.
  • Southwestern Ontario: This region's scenic landscape stretched between small towns and lush countryside is a backdrop for historic sites, theatre, festivals and events.
  • Ottawa, home of the French influence presents a unique blend of culture, glorious heritage buildings, history and national pride.
  • Niagra: It must be Niagra Falls.
  • Eastern Ontario: Lots of small towns to peruse offering ancient architecture and historic sites.
  • Central Ontario: Muskoka Lakes and Georgian Bay areas renowned for its recreational options.

Focus on Canada Travel to Prince Edward Island

     Prince Edward Island is located in the Gulf of St. Lawrence west of Cape Breton Island. In 2009 there were 122,000 folks living there. Due to nature, there are a few more now.
     There are two population centers on the island, Charlottetown Harbour and Summerside Harbour.
     The view in PEI is pastoral...rolling hills, woods, reddish white sand beaches, ocean coves and the famous red soil have given Prince Edward Island a reputation as a province of outstanding natural beauty.
     The ocean environment moderates temps when it can, but it does get cold in the winter to comfortable in the summer. There is plenty of rain, and toned down Atlantic tempests though.
     Industry is seasonal...Agriculture, tourism, and fishing. Agriculture plays a surprisingly important role. PEI is, for example a major exporter of seed taters (Po-ta-toes).

ACTIVITIES: Arts & Crafts, Beaches, Birding, Cycling, Deep Sea Fishing, Dining, Geocaching, Golf, Harness Racing, Hunting, Motorcycling, Paddling,  Provincial Parks, Running, Summer Camps, Trails, Water Sports, Weddings, Family Fun, Farm Experiences, Island Food,  Lighthouses, Night Life, Romance, Scenic Drives,  Seasons, Shopping, The Island in Bloom, Touring

Focus on Quebec (Québec)

     Quebec is the second most populous of the Canadian provinces, with the main settlement being near the Saint Lawrence River between Montreal and Quebec City. Quebec City is the capital. The language is French and there are something more than 7.5 million Quebec folks running all over the place.
     Quebec has historically made its dough by developing its natural resources, but lately the information sector has come on strong, even to aerospace and pharmaceuticals.
     When coming to Quebec during the winter months, it's best to bring a jacket. Central Quebec has what they call a subarctic climate, which means the winter is long and summers short. However, the population centers of southern and western Quebec have warm humid summers and shorter brutal winters.
     b has their tourism sonar on high gain and is actively pinging to locate folks to come do the Quebec thing.

Focus on Saskatchewan

     Saskatchewan is on the Canadian prairie. The population runs something more than a million and the capital is Regina. Half the folks live there and the other half live in Saskatoon, and most all of this is in the southern third of the province. Other major cities, in order of size, are Prince Albert, Moose Jaw, Yorkton, Swift Current and North Battleford.
     The climate of the southern portion of Saskatchewan runs from that of the northern United States, which to say, warm summers, to monstrously cold winters. As in much of Canada, the northern half pretty much flirts with the deep freeze all year, being sub arctic.
     Farming is tops in Saskatchewan, with wheat being the top producer. Grains like canola, flax, rye, oats, peas, lentils, canary seed, and barley are also produced. Beef cattle production in the province is only exceeded by Alberta. Mining is also a major industry in the province, with Saskatchewan being the world's largest exporter of potash and uranium. Add in oil and gas as well.

From the Sasktorurism.com website:
     Most of your Saskatchewan vacation will be easy: beautiful scenery that’s easy on the eyes, friendly folk along the way that are easy to take, and a pace of life that’s relaxing and easy-going. With so many activities and attractions, the only hard part may be deciding what to do first. You’ll have some choices to make. Choose from an array of attractions to suit almost every interest. Choose from fun events including small town gatherings and international festivals. Choose from a range of casinos, spas, great shopping areas and restaurants – you’ll keep as busy as you like. If you enjoy outdoor adventure, Saskatchewan was made for you. World-class fishing is just the start – canoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking, boating, camping, horseback riding, wildlife viewing – the list goes on and on. When winter comes, it brings with it a whole new set of choices, a whole new world of possibilities. Summer or winter, north or south, city or country - there's always lots to do in Saskatchewan.

Focus on Yukon one of Canada's Destinations.

     The fabled Yukon, land with no motto. (So, instead, we present the Yukon Coat of Arms.)
     The capital of the Yukon is Whitehorse and the population exceeds 33,000. The weather runs from arctic to subarctic.
     The primary output of the Yukon is lead, zinc, silver, gold, asbestos and copper, which is to say the primo industry is mining.
     The Yukon's motto is, "Larger than Life," and that's an understatement. The reason folks flock to the Yukon is its nearly unspoiled nature. Grabbing onto an organized hunting or fishing expedition could prove to be your extraordinary vacation of a lifetime.
     Other Yukon favorites include the Yukon International Storytelling Festival, Frostbite Music Festival, Dawson Music Festival, Yukon Quest, Sourdough Rendezvous, the Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre, Northern Lights Centre, Klondike Gold Rush memorials and activities, "Takhini Hot Springs", and the Whitehorse fish ladder.
     And then there is the incomparable aurora borealis. These are things that folks from southern climes can only dream about unless they are lucky enough to go participate.

The Canada Experience

     Canada is a continent's worth of adventure in itself. Alberta's central region offers rolling foothills, overawing prairie vistas and lakes beyond counting. Further north lies mighty rivers and unexplored wilderness. Rod, reel, and gun adventures from horseback, canoe, and kayak await the adventurous...Snowmobiles in the winter. In the south, check out the Hoodoos in the Canadian Badlands.
     Calgary offers museums and fine dining, along with the Calgary Stampede in July.
     The Canadian Rockies in the west features wilderness beyond dreams, tiny towns, and five star resorts. The parks of the Banff and Jasper round out recreational opportunities. With sparse populations, the area begs for tourists to come see what the locals have all year round.
     Edmonton lies in the heart of the Alberta province is is known for its cultural events, superb museums, vibrant arts scene, eclectic neighbourhoods and spectacular river valley.
     All of this and it's just Alberta, your first stop on your Canadian adventure. Multiply this by 10,000 and the chance for your vacation of a lifetime becomes almost infinite. Some folks visit Canada and forget to go home. As Australia is to that part of the world, so is Canada to North America. It's still the land of opportunity and Canada is always willing to give you your shot. What was the opportunity of the southern half of the continent is still the future of the northern half. It's still the land for the pioneer.
