Big Sky Vacations
Big Sky Vacations
Author: Caitlin Moore
Known for its proximity to Yellowstone National Park, year-round activities, and a sense of peace unmatched by most other ski resorts, Big Sky in Montana is high on most savvy travelers' lists of places to visit at some time in their lives. Just utter the name and you'll feel the thrill of what's to come; peace, simplicity, and supreme beauty.
Big Sky is indeed worth visiting during either the winter or the summer season, so whatever your temperament calls out for you'll find an answer to here. If the cold weather is what gets you going, you'll be happy to know that the resort receives about 400 inches of annual snowfall and has 85 miles of ski runs that never lose their luster due to overcrowding. Take this opportunity to absorb yourself in skiing, or explore something new by learning to snowboard.
If speeding downhill is a bit too much to handle, there's plenty more to do that will get you out there enjoying the winter wonderland. Snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and even horseback riding and winter fly-fishing are all available. Cozy up with your honey in the back of a sleigh or ride the lifts just for fun, as long as you end your day with a cup of hot cocoa by the fire it will be time well spent.
Ski competitions, parties, festivals, and family-oriented activities add a celebratory touch to life at Big Sky, so check the calendar of events to plan your visit around something extra special. Nothing is better than bundling up, heading outside, and hearing the snow crunch beneath your feet when you've been cooped up in a classroom or office all season, so get ready to acclimate yourself to a whole new environment and way of seeing the world.
If you're less ski-bunny and more fun-in-the-sun, a summertime Big Sky visit will satisfy your warm weather wanderlust. Hike, raft, play, fish...you'll need several days to really soak it all in, so plan accordingly. Golf and tennis make for fun ways to burn some calories, but nothing compares to packing a lunch, some water, and heading out for a firsthand exploration of the Montana wilderness. Ten miles of mountain biking trails will challenge the adventurers in your group, and there's even a Freeride Park for the ultimate daredevils who get their kicks from jumps and ladders.
Disc golf and scenic lift rides continue to add to the fun, as do the tournaments and parties that give the summer months a bit more punch. There's always something going on, so bring lots of energy and a desire to be entertained and enveloped in all that Big Sky has to offer after the snow has melted.
An extensive array of spa offerings, facilities for large groups, and daycares are a few more details that will smooth the edges of this trip and make it above complaint. No need or want will go unanswered during this holiday, especially if you take the time to pick out accommodations of high quality, as well. Big Sky vacation rentals are a smart route to take, as each of these cabins, lodges, and condos are equipped not only to handle visitors, but to make you feel happy to be alive.
Imagine a log cabin that seems to exist in its own time and place, outfitted with modern conveniences yet stirring within you feelings of tradition, warmth, and family togetherness. With room for all the people you love plus conveniences like kitchen appliances, a washer and dryer, and even things like hot tubs and a piano, you'll want to return to this place for every future vacation.
If you think Big Sky has what it takes to qualify itself as being worthy of you and your family's attention, then sit up and start planning. The seasons are spinning by as we speak, and it's a shame to let another one pass without an outstanding vacation to bookmark it in your memory. Go online to explore a few Big Sky Vacation Rentals and prepare to train your gaze on a whole new portion of the heavens.

Yellowstone Vacations and Camping
Author: Joe Dockter
Yellowstone vacations are fun and camping can be a way to experience the park up close. A few simple rules have been established to make sure campsites are available for everyone. Following these rules can make Yellowstone vacations even more fun. Yellowstone Vacations General Camping - Camping or overnight vehicle parking in pullouts, picnic areas, picnic grounds, or any place other than a designated campground are not permitted and there are no overflow camping facilities. However, camping is often available in neighboring communities and forests outside the park. Tent sites start at $10, and RV sites start at $22 per night in the town of West Yellowstone, Montana.
Camping in Yellowstone Park is limited to 14 days between July 1 and Labor Day, and to 30 days the rest of the year. There is no limit at Fishing Bridge RV Park. Check-out time for all campgrounds is 10:00 AM. Several commercial RV parks in neighboring communities offer special rates for those who plan to stay the entire summer.
Campfires and Yellowstone vacations - Wood and charcoal fires are permitted only in locations with fire grates. Open fires are not permitted anywhere in the park. Special fire restrictions are occasionally put in place when the danger of wild fires is great. Check the signs posted at park entrances and at the campground check-in station. If you plan to light a fire in the park, please ask about current fire restrictions at the entrance station when you arrive or email our Visit Services Office immediately prior to your visit. Many of the same restrictions on campfires are enforced at neighboring campgrounds. Ask the manager on duty when you arrive, or check with them via phone or e-mail before your trip.
Yellowstone Vacations Quiet Hours Camping in Yellowstone Park is a special experience. Each visitor deserves the opportunity to hear the birds, wildlife, and streams in this beautiful environment. Respect this by complying with the laws established to guarantee a peaceful experience for all visitors to the park. The use of generators is prohibited from 8:00 PM to 8:00 Am. Quiet hours are observed from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. No loud audio devices or other noise disturbances will be allowed in the Park during this time. These rules are enforced by park officials and campground managers. Violators may be asked to leave the park. Most private campgrounds have similar noise control regulations and enforce them vigorously. (Please note that generators are only permitted in six Yellowstone campgrounds and the Fishing Bridge RV Park.) Yellowstone vacations are a great way to spend time relaxing in the great outdoors. Yellowstone vacations that include camping provide even greater opportunities for enjoying the spectacular scenery, amazing wildlife, and getting away from the stress of everyday life. Following these simple rules while camping can make good Yellowstone vacations great vacations. Which Montana Museum Should You Visit?
Author: Rosie Dawson
For people who enjoy history, art and learning about how things were prior to now, you probably also love going to museums. Montana boasts an impressive number of museums and art galleries, 274 to be exact!
With so many museums spread out over the state, I can easily see why it would be so hard to figure out which ones to go to and which ones are worth the time. As we know some museums, if not put together well, can turn out to be pretty boring and uneventful. Here are some of the Montana museums that are not a waste of time.
The CM Russell Museum: Established in 1953, the C.M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana owns the most complete collection of Charles Russell art and personal objects in the world. C.M Russell was an artist of the American West who created paintings of cowboys, Indians and landscapes set in the Western United States. He also created bronze sculptures. The permanent collection at The C.M. Russell Museum is comprised of over 12,000 paintings and objects.
The Moss Mansion: Located in Billings, this historic house museum captures early turn-of-the-century life of the Preston Boyd Moss family. The mansion is a red sandstone structure built in 1903 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors will see original draperies, fixtures, furniture, Persian carpets and artifacts during their guided tour. The Moss Mansion was designed by Henry Jane Hardenbergh who also designed the original Waldorf-Astoria.
The Yellowstone Art Museum: Also located in Billings, the Yellowstone Art Museum is an important visual arts center for the surrounding region. Founded in 1964, it is now a fully accredited Museum. There are over 3,000 painting and objects which have exceeded all expectations of growth and popularity of the museum.
The Western Heritage Center: This historic building is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located in Billings as well, it was originally the Parmly Billings Library, built in 1901 by Billings founder as a memorial to his son, Parmly. Within the beautiful main floor old oak galleries are changing exhibits where the stories of peoples of the Yellowstone River Valley unfold.
Museum of the Rockies: One of the most popular museums can be found in Bozeman, Montana. The Museum of the Rockies focuses mainly on dinosaurs and Paleontology, but also houses an amazing Planetarium for a new perspective on Montana's Big Sky. There is also a great exhibit on Lewis & Clark, often thought of as America's greatest adventure story. Another great feature is the living farm which allows kids to see and also experience what life was like over a century ago on a Montana homestead.
Of course there are many amazing Montana museums that I could cover, but it would be hard to cover the many aspects of each museum in just one article. The few that I have listed are some of the more exciting and equally entertaining museums for both adults and children, which as we all know, is a very important quality!
