The Freedom Trail : One of the most popular walking tours in the United States, the Freedom Trail is about 3 miles in length. The trail is simple to follow due to painted red lines and pavement inserts. 90 minute guided tours are operated by Park Rangers. Points of interest include the USS Constitution, the site of the Boston Massacre and the home Paul Revere lived in.

The USS Constitution : The oldest existing commissioned warship, the Constitution never lost a battle she was involved in. Visitors can tour the upper deck where sailors are available to answer any questions you may have. Located at an adjacent pier, plan on visiting the USS Cassin Young, a destroyer that saw action in World War II.

Museum of Fine Arts : Located one mile west of Boston's Copley Square in the Fenway area, the Museum of Fine Arts can be accessed easily by using public transportation. You will find assorted art galleries, restaurants, gift shops, concerts and special exhibits. One can't take in everything in just one visit, so you should plan a return trip.

Paul Revere House : Paul Revere House is downtown Boston's oldest house, having been built in 1680. Paul Revere was the owner of this house for thirty years, from 1770 to 1800. Inside this restored home visitors will find assorted memorabilia as well as furnishings from the 17th and 18th century.

Old State House : Currently used as a history museum, this is the Boston's oldest public building, having been built in 1713. The Old State House looks over the site of the Boston Massacre, marked by a cobblestone circle. Franklin Park Zoo : Founded in 1911, the recently renovated Franklin Park Zoo is located on a 72 acre site. Featured exhibits include Giraffe Savannah, the Bongo Congo, Australian Outback, Western Lowland Gorillas and the Franklin Farm where visitors can get up close and actually pet the sheep and goats.

New England Aquarium : Encircled by a 40 foot high spiral ramp, the featured center piece of the aquarium is their Giant Ocean Tank, which holds 200,000 gallons of water. The tank houses several species which include sharks, stingrays, barracudas, huge turtles along with a replica of a Caribbean coral reef.

Bunker Hill Monument : A tall granite obelisk commemorates the 1775 Battle of Bunker Hill. Visitors who are feeling spry can climb 294 stairs to the obelisk's top and be rewarded by a beautiful view of Boston. During the summer visitors can take in a musket firing demonstration.

Faneuil Hall : Originally built back in 1742, Faneuil Hall was donated to the city by Peter Faneuil. British officers used Faneuil Hall as a theater during their occupation of the city. A military museum along with paintings of notable battles are found in the Hall. Park Service Rangers give historical talks.

Museum of Afro-American History : Called the oldest standing African-American church building in the United States, the museum features the African Meeting House, dedicated in the 1806. Changing exhibits are displayed in the gallery and guided tours are available to visitors.

Cape Cod, An Ideal Place For Fun

Cape Cod is one of the most popular places in the US. People travel to this place to seek relief from the hot summer they are experiencing. It is also one of the best spots for fun activities and romantic get-aways.

Cape Cod is a peninsula located in the state of Massachusetts. It is known as The Cape for most of the New Englanders. Originally, the Cape was connected to the mainland Massachusetts. It became an island when the Cape Canal was opened in 1914.

There are three bridges where vehicles can cross on to the Cape. These bridges are: (1) Sagamore Bridge (2) Bourne Bridge and (3) Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge.

Cape Cod has four portions. The section closest to the mainland is called the Upper Cape. This includes towns like Bourne, Sandwich, Falmouth and Mashpee.

The Upper Cape is known for its romantic ambiance and excellent research facilities.

The Mid-Cape portion includes towns such as Barnstable, Yarmouth and Dennis.

Many beautiful beaches are found in this area. It is good for wind surfing. The Mid-Cape portion of Cape Cod is the center of the region's commerce and industry.

The narrower portion of the Cape is the Lower Cape. It bends towards the north. You can find here the beautiful towns of Harwich, Brewster, Chatham and Orleans.

The Outer Cape is home to Eastham, Truro, Wellfleet and Provincetown.

The Cape Cod National Seashore is also located in this portion. This park is home to some of the most famous beaches in the US. The highest elevation on Cape Cod is located at the top of Pine Hill. It has 306 feet.

Cape Cod has moderate marine climate. Its temperature is usually few degrees cooler in the summer and few degrees warmer in the winter. This is due to the influence of the Atlantic Ocean.

Cape Cod is notorious for its delayed spring season and is also famed for its exceptionally mild fall season. This period of the year is called Indian Summer.

Cape Cod has different types of transportation. You can access Cape Cod through commercial air services operating out of Barnstable Municipal Airport and Provincetown Municipal Airport. There are buses coming in and out of the area transporting passengers from Boston to Cape Cod and vice-versa.

Another type of transportation visitors can use is the ferry services. These ferries operate from Boston to Provincetown. Within Cape Cod, bicycle is another type of transportation running through the Cape Cod Rail Trail and Shining Se Bikeway. The Cape Cod Central operates a passenger train services that is mainly for tourists. Taxis are also operating around the area.

Tourism is one of the main industries here. It has 60 public beaches. The Cape Cod National Seashore has 40 miles of sandy beach. It also has many walking paths. The place is also home for a lot of outdoor activities. These include boating, kayaking,beach walking, biking and fishing.

The 27 public golf courses and 15 private courses make the place a good venue for golf enthusiasts. Another exciting activity to do in Cape Cod is watching whales. People go to Provincetown, where the National Marine Sanctuary is located, to see different whales.

Sports is very much alive in Cape Cod. As a matter of fact, it has its own baseball league known as Cape Cod Baseball League. The Fallmouth Road Race held every third Saturday of August and draws up to 10,000 participants also show that the place is ideal for sports.

Cape Cod is also known for its romantic destinations with hotels and restaurants offering different packages fitted to those who want to have an unforgettable wedding and honeymoon.
